Year 5 and 6 Taster Day and Sleepover

Posted: 3rd May 2024

On Friday, we welcomed some prospective Year 7 students for September 2024 and 2025 to take part in our Taster Afternoon and Sleepover Experience. In our first activity of the afternoon, the students used unfamiliar science equipment and techniques to explore colour changes, then took a turn at using mini microscopes to look closely at the fibres that make up tissue, wood grain on the desks and fabric/fibre samples.

This was followed by an outdoor art activity in our beautiful woodland. After collecting twigs, the students had great fun using them to create Ojos de Dios, which are colourful woven textile pieces.

After lessons finished, students were shown to Bligh boarding house where they settled into their rooms (with much excitement), were presented with their goody bags, and met our Housemistress. After a lovely meal and the chance to meet more Cobham staff and students, our young guests further developed their creative side with a pom-pom craft activity. Social time followed, with hot chocolate before bedtime, and a great evening was had by all.

After a delicious breakfast of pancakes the next morning, students said their goodbyes to new friends before making their way home. Our thanks to all students and staff who made the girls feel so welcome.
