YEAR 12 PRACTICE FOR GOLD DofE

Saturday 11th May saw four students in Year 12 take part in a training day walk as part of their Gold Expedition. They spent the day walking around the local area, learning more advance map and navigation skills, including pacing, timings, and bearings. The team did well and enjoyed meeting all the different animals on the route.

BRONZE AND SILVER PRACTICE EXPEDITION

Six students from Year 9 completed their Bronze DofE practice expedition, while six students from Years 10 and 12 completed their Silver DofE practice expedition. The sun was shining as they set out on Saturday morning on a training walk to learn important map and navigation skills. When they arrived back at Cobham, the students set up their tents on the T-block field and cooked their own dinner. The following day, students walked in their teams without a member of staff, successfully navigating their routes without
getting lost!

Let’s hope the weather is just as wonderful for the assessed expeditions after the half-term.
