On Wednesday, students created female portrait art pieces to reflect on how art can be used as a tool for social change and awareness. This activity was to raise awareness and introduce students to how gender may silence and disadvantage women in all aspects of our society today.
Students explored and discussed views and opinions around education, sport, the workplace and heath. Interesting conversations were sparked, and together they brainstormed examples of where these gaps exist, potential barriers, and their impact on women and girls.
The portrait pieces created will be displayed as a Gallery of Art for Kent Police at Bluewater Shopping Centre. The Gallery will support and raise awareness of Kent Police’s priority campaign tackling Violence Against Women and Girls.
