Over the summer holidays Year 13 students Kaya, Jude, Isabelle and Florence, took part in their Gold DofE assessed expedition. The team went to Dartmoor with Medway Open Award Centre who run open expeditions for participants in Medway and the surrounding areas.
During the expedition the team had to deal with very wet weather, including dense fog on the last day where they struggled to see more than a few meters in front of them. This led to one of their tents filling with water and two team members falling almost waist deep into peat bogs!
Despite the terrible weather, the team did incredibly well, walking 75km over rough, steep terrain, camping at wild camps without toilets, using streams for water and cooking their own food. Throughout the four days, the team showed great teamwork, resilience and navigation skills, learning skills for life and having an adventure they will never forget.
Congratulations on an amazing expedition and getting one step closer to complete your Gold DofE Award.
