Our highly anticipated annual Guardian Convention took place on Friday.
Mrs Barrett introduced proceedings, giving thanks for the wonderful work done by the 2022-23 Student Leadership Team, followed by a fine speech by outgoing Guardian Rhiannon, highlighting some of their greatest achievements.
Students and staff listened as teachers read references for each of the 2023-24 Guardian candidates, before Poppy, Natasha, Yaka and Alyssa took to the lectern to confidently present their applications. Each outlined their strengths, described what makes them a good leader, and explained which changes they would implement, if appointed. Some fantastic ideas were suggested, such as the introduction of Culture Day to celebrate Cobham Hall’s internationalism and the incorporation of the Arts into interhouse events.
The applicants then faced a round of difficult questions from tutor groups, such as “what makes you a good leader?”, followed by a question from the staff. Each candidate offered well-formulated and thought-through answers to the questions.
A huge congratulations to all of you for taking part and articulately presenting your ideas with such confidence.
The votes were then cast by all staff and students.
With a lot of excitement, the results were announced. Congratulations to our new Guardian Alyssa and our Deputy Guardian Natasha!
And our House Captains:
Clifton: Tara
Darnley: Tunmise
Lenox: Poppy
Richmond: Elena
