Cobham Hall welcomed visitors from The Nightingale School in New York last Thursday as part of our Round Square scheme. Students in Year 9 welcomed our guests to Cobham by joining them for break in the Gilt Hall, where they met each other over tea and cake. Students then split into groups and joined English, Art, Music, Latin, and Computer Science lessons throughout the day. Everybody spent lunchtime together in the Oak Dining Room, and much fun was had as Cobham students showed the Nightingale students the wonderful buildings and grounds that we have.
At the end of the school day, the Nightingale students had a guided tour of the main building and couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the carriage in the ILC. The evening was spent in the Drama Studio watching the film Wild Child, with Cobham Hall students pointing out the scenes that had been filmed in the grounds.
There were a few tears shed the following morning when students bid their farewells to their new friends, exchanging phone numbers and email addresses, and promising they would visit them in New York one day. Mrs Kipling was extremely proud of the Year 9 students who demonstrated great maturity, care and compassion for the visiting students and their staff.
